SCHA – Free Summer Events for Youth in Schoharie County

 

 

                July 7 – 12  -- Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association is sponsoring a Jazz Band Camp for young people in Schoharie County who are in grades 7 through 12.  The camp will be held at Depot Lane Theater the week of July 7th to July 12th,   Monday through Friday from 10:00am until 2:00pm, and will be taught by music teacher Jessica Gould.   Performances will be on July 11th at the Depot Lane Theater at 7pm, and a second, outdoor concert will be held July 12th at 7pm at the Schoharie Free Library.  Call Ms. Gould at (518) 376-7929 to sign up.  Made possible, in part, with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri-County Arts Council.

 

            July 11 – 7p.m.  -- Jazz It Up!  Jazz Band Concert Performed by students at Depot Lane Theater.  Call 295-7505 for more information or to make reservations.  Concert is FREE. Raffle will be held for the benefit of the Palatine House.  Sponsored by SCHA with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri-County Arts Council.

 

            July 12 – 7p.m.  -- Jazz It Up!  If you miss the Fri. concert at Depot Lane, the Jazz It Up! students will also perform outdoors at Schoharie Free Library.  Be sure to bring blankets or lawn chairs.  In event of rain the concert will be held at the Depot Lane Theater.  Concert is FREE.  Raffle will be held for the benefit of the library.  Sponsored by SCHA with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri-County Arts Council.

 

          July 21 – August 2Explore! the British Isles through the Performing Arts.  Free summer theater workshops and cultural enrichment program at the Depot Lane Creamery Building in Schoharie for children entering grades 3 through 6. 10am-2pm, Mon. – Fri.  Performances Aug. 1& 2.             July 21 – August 2 -- Shakespeare Camp for youth entering grades 7-12 at Depot Lane Theater in Schoharie.  Students will study the life and times of Shakespeare and perform scenes from plays.  Hours: 10am-2pm.  Performances Aug. 1&2.  For more information call SCHA at 295-7505 or email scha@midtel.net.  Sponsored by SCHA with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri-County Arts Council.

 

Aug. 1 & 2 – Children’s Folktale Theater and Scenes from Shakespeare performances at Depot Lane Theater.  Admission $5.00 to benefit SCHA’s FREE summer youth workshops.  Performance times:  Fri., Aug. 1st, starting at 6pm, and Sat., Aug. 2nd at 4pm at the Depot Lane Theater with a Renaissance Fair following the Sat. performances.  Also, Aug. 1st there will be a special, hour-long preview performance at the Schoharie Free Library at 2:00pm.   Sponsored by SCHA with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri-County Arts Council.
