The Depot Lane Singers
A 24 Year Tradition in Schoharie County
![]()
The Depot Lane Singers were organized by Frances Tripp, our director, in September 1979 beginning with a group of 55 area residents. It has grown to include professional men and women of all ages and now numbers between 75 and 100 singers from Albany, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie counties. No voice try-outs are required. The Singers believe that if you love to sing, you should be able to join with others who feel the same way. All music is provided, and beyond the rehearsals and concerts, the most important ingredient and greatest asset is group camaraderie and respect for good music. Thanks to the SCHA who provide rehearsal space, the Singers are able to contribute to the on-going cultural projects of this organization. The Singers perform two concerts a year and have also been guests at the Tall Ships Centennial Celebration in Albany, the 4th Annual Celebration of National Volunteers Week at Proctors Theater in Schenectady and the inauguration ceremony for the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School. At the Christmas 1998 concert, A Special Christmas", Frances B. Tripp, the founder and director of the Depot Lane Singers, was honored with separate citations of recognition from New York State Senator James L. Seward and Governor George E. Pataki for two decades of extraordinary musical inspiration to the community. |
