MIDTEL NET Domain Hosting Information
We provide various types of hosting services. Please click below for more information on the various services that we offer. If you have any questions please send an email to info@midtel.net
DNS Server Information
All three of these servers need to be listed in your Domain Name Registration record. This is done automatically if you register the domain name through us. If the domain name is not registered through us, you must have these servers put into your record.
- ns0.inoc.net
- ns1.inoc.net
- ns2.inoc.net
Web Hosting
We currently have 2 different hosting platforms.
Apache on Unix
This is our default hosting platform. The following scripting languages are installed:
Uploading Content
Users need to use FTP to upload their webpage to ftp.midtel.net. The root directory is the root of the website. Anything you place here is visible through the internet.
CGI-SCRIPTS
Any scripts that are placed in the cgi-bin directory can be executed. Also, scripts can be placed any where in the directory tree, as long as they end in .cgi or .pl. All scripts are executed with the permissions of the user.
FrontPage Extensions
This server does not support Microsoft FrontPage Extensions. If they need FrontPage Extensions the will need to use an IIS server. Users can still use FrontPage to author their websites, but none of the extensions (web bots) will work. Also they will need to use FTP to upload their content.
FrontPage on Cobalt Raq
These are Sun Cobalt RAQ 550's running with Front Page Extensions.
Uploading Content
Users use Microsoft FrontPage Publish feature to upload their content.
CGI-SCRIPTS
Databases
Shell Access
Available upon request
Mail Hosting
We have a virtual mail system that allows users to control their own e-mail. Once their domain is created it is accessed via http://mailadmin.domainname.com/. The administrator needs to login with the following information:
- Username: postmaster
- Password: Their account password
- Domain: Their domain name (domainname.com) (no www)
Individual users can also logon with their username and password to control their own account.
When setting up a mail account their are a couple of options to choose
- Catchall Bounced -- All mail that is not addressed to a valid account will be bounced
- Catchall Deleted -- All mail that is not addressed to a valid account will be silently deleted
- Remote Catchall -- All mail that is not addressed to a valid account will be forwarded to a remote e-mail box (please tell us where)
- Default -- All mail that is not addressed to a valid account goes to the postmaster mailbox
Accessing E-mail
If they don't have their mail forwarded to another account, users need to setup their pop accounts with the following information
- Incoming Mail server -- pop.domainname.com
- Outgoing Mail Server -- mail.dommainname.com
- Username -- user%domainname.com (or postmaster%domianname.com if they chose option default)(note user@domainname will also work for all clients except Eudora)
- Password -- Their Password
Webmail
Our Vmail servers also support Webmail available at http://webmail.domainname.com/. Since this is a new feature it is enabled on a go forward basis.
If you have an existing account that you would like enabled, please let us know and we will be happy to set it up for you
