Television > About MIDTEL CABLE TV
MIDTEL CABLE TV, Inc., a subsidiary of The Middleburgh Telephone Company , was formed in June of 1994 with the goal of providing quality cable television service at an affordable price. MIDTEL CABLE TV's system officially became operational in November 1995.
The first phase of MIDTEL CABLE TV's project, completed in October 1995, included 55 miles of broadband coaxial plant and passed over 1,200 homes. Service was offered in parts of the towns of Blenheim, Broome, Fulton, Middleburgh, and Summit, along with parts of the Village of Middleburgh. Upon completion of its second phase, the entire Village of Middleburgh and Schoharie are now covered, along with a majority of the Town of Schoharie. With completion of this phase in November 1996, MIDTEL CABLE TV's service area now covers over 110 miles and passes over 2,200 homes.
MIDTEL CABLE TV's state of the art satellite dish farm and head-end is in Middleburgh, NY and can be seen on Route 30 between Middleburgh and Schoharie. MIDTEL CABLE TV's plant uses both fiber optic and coaxial cable. The system is constructed at 750MHz, allowing it to carry over 110 analog channels, or 79 analog channels and over 300 digital channels.
In 2007 MIDTEL CABLE TV began the construction of a fully digital television head end utilizing technologies from Motorola, Cisco, APC, and many others. This building has a fully redundant environmental control system, along with dual alternate power sources in the event of a power failure. This investment has allowed MIDTEL to bring a full suite of digital television services to our customers, including set top boxes with DVR, which allows you to record your favorite shows, pause, rewind and fast forward, and over 35 High Definition channels, with more planned for the future. The next phase is already in the implementation stages that will bring Fiber Optic cables directly to customer’s homes. This will allow for extremely fast High Speed Broadband speeds, Video on Demand and many new and exciting channel additions.
Stay tuned for further updates!!
