Chapter 6: The High School Years


Back in grammar school we had a kid, Bobby, who could throw a softball underhand, faster then the fastest kid throwing a hard ball overhand. In high school, Bobby was the star hard ball pitcher and drew national attention. There were overflow crowds at every game. No one could hit the ball with his blazing speed. He pitched 22 straight winning games. 18 were no hitters! All the major baseball teams had scouts watching him at each game. Eventually he was signed by the Saint Louis Cardinals.
