An Arabian horse is on the drawing board right now. The size of this piece is 18 x 24 inches drawn on Bristol smooth, I've put in approx. 35 hours. I'm using 2b Mech. pencil, 3b, blending stick/stump and tissue. Since the horse is all white I am drawing in a medium to dark toned background. I will need to use negative drawing for the mane and tail, this is done by leaving the white of the paper behind and drawing the darker tones around the area...you need to work a tiny area at a time very slowly. I'm having fun drawing in a background to look like trees in a forest, the reference photo has a nice DOF and is a pleasure to work from. The photographer is: S. A. Bates. A scanned image has been added to the "Art Work" page.

An eye was on the drawing board the 9th - 23rd of April. I worked on and off it in my spare time; it was lots of fun to create an eye on paper that looks realistic. The fine details such as the veins in the whites of the eye, the flakes of makeup and the freckles on the skin are what gave it more realism. The shadows also give the drawing lots of depth. I wanted to just draw an eye so I left the piece looking very unfinished but I like the end results. 11 x 14 inch Smooth Bristol, mechanical 2b pencil for the most part, an H pencil and 3b for some areas, blending stump and tissue, 30+-hrs total. The reference photo is from a free stock image on DevaintArt
