|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4/29/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 3rd | Jim led the first 12 laps of the 20-lap feature but could not parlay his front row starting position to his first win of the season. |
| 5/6/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 6th | Jim was moving up through the field from his 15th-place starting position, but was caught up in a multi-car tangle on lap 8, which sent him to the rear. Jim made his way back up through, but ran out of time and had to settle for 6th place. |
| 5/11/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 4th | Jim came through the pack quickly from his 14th starting position but did not have enough to get by the leaders and had to settle for 4th place. |
| 5/18/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 14th | While running 6th midway through the feature, Jim could not avoid an accident between the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place cars and sustained heavy damage to the right front wheel. The crew was able to get Jim back out a lap down but he had to settle for 14th place. |
| 5/18/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 2nd | Jim avoided a first lap accident that moved him to 4th from his 10th place starting position. He quickly moved into 2nd place but never quite had enough for the leader. |
| 6/1/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 3rd (Consi) | Jim had a terrible run in his heat race and had to run the last chance consolation race for the first time in two years. Jim was able to get up to 3rd, but an ill-handling race car prevented him from gaining any more spots. Jim will be starting 18th in the postponed feature this coming Friday night. On a side note, we found what was causing the problem with the car's handling after the consolation race. |
| 6/8/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY |
9th (Rained-Out Feature)
7th or 8th (Main Feature) |
Jim started 18th in the rained-out feature and spun on lap 8 while running 12th or 13th. He came from the back to crack the top 10. During the main feature, which was the last feature to run on the night, Jim literally had no track left to run on. It was very hard and slick. Jim started 4th and moved up to 2nd early in the race, but lost his brakes and did not have a good race from there on out. Jim slid backwards in the last 6 or 7 laps. We'll make some adjustments this week in preparation for another slick race track this coming week (sprint cars are there). |
| 6/15/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 7th | Jim methodically worked his way up from the 15th starting position to capture our 7th Top 10 in 8 races. |
| 6/22/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 5th | Jim couldn't take advantage of his outside pole starting position and a straightaway lead early in the race to get his first win of 2001. Jim fell back late in the race but held on for another Top 5 finish. |
| 6/29/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 3rd | Jim was able to use the 5th place starting position to his advantage and moved into 3rd place approximately lap 7. We were off enough that we could not get up to challenge the leaders but recorded another Top 5 finish. |
| 7/6/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 19th | Jim caught the inside barrier while running 3rd early in the race and gave himself a left front flat. Jim continued on and was in 6th place when he got tapped and spun in the 4th turn on the last lap. |
| 7/13/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 1st | Finally! From the 5th starting position Jim took the lead on lap 5 or 6, and held off a couple challenges to capture his first win of the year. |
| 7/20/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 13th | Jim started 9th and was up to 4th, until John Bellinger and Jim came together on the front straightaway. The collision caused Bellinger to flip, and did heavy damage to the front end of Jim's car. Jim's crew (plus a couple others) got his car back together and they found their way up to 13th. |
| 7/27/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 9th | Jim's car was average on the bottom of the track and terrible on the top, so he basically kept it down low and rode out a 9th place car to 9th place finish. |
| 8/3/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | N/A | Rained out. |
| 8/10/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | N/A | Rain cancellation. |
| 8/17/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 5th | Jim used a little luck and a bunch of cautions to pick his way through to a 5th place finish from the 18th starting position. |
| 8/24/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 9th | Jim fell back a few spots at the start from his 12th place starting position but then methodically worked his way back up to 9th. Jim had a very good car and needed some caution flags to help close the gap, but the feature ran green to checkers. |
| 8/31/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | N/A | Rained out. |
| 9/7/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 20th | This race was the make-up feature from last week's rain cancellation. Jim was quickly moving his way up through the pack from his 21st starting position. He had to check up for some cars getting out of shape in front of him, and he was hit from behind. A bunch of cars piled into Jim, and he was unable to continue. |
| 9/7/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 9th | We were able to get the car repaired enough to race, and Jim drew lucky number 13 for his starting spot. He was able to pass a few cars for another Top 10 finish. |
| 9/21/01 | 358-Modified/Sportsman | Albany-Saratoga Speedway | Malta, NY | 4th | Jim had slow start from his 8th place starting position, falling back 3 or 4 spots. He finally got the rubber band wound up and just missed nipping the 3rd place car at the line. |
