Queen Anne is one style of architecture. The time period is between the year 1880-1910. This style came from a group of nineteenth century architects led by Richard Norman Shaw. People followed Shaw's designs before the 1800's . Then after that, American Spindle work became common. They chose patterns from Elizabethan and Jacobean eras.

Queen Anne has fish scale shingles, swags, board and batten, eyelid dormers, circular bay windows, cutaway bay windows, carved wood panels, finial, pendant, multi-planed roof, and multi-gable roof. It also has a steep pitched roof of irregular shape, front facing gables or a gable that is extended forward and triangular, and a full width porch which is usually one story high and extended along one or both side walls. The patterned shingles are used to cover roofs, walls, or the like. The tower has a conical roof and a projecting and pedimented dormer.
