My name is Phil Morrissey, I was first licensed in 1959. In the following years I finished College and got my First Class Commercial License. The next stop was Navy Mars (NAVMARS), I was a net control operator (NECOS), my call was NNN0PDU, it later became NNN0HXC. Just before Desert Shield I became Radio Teletype Officer for Northern New York Region NAVMARS, my call NNN0GBJ-10. In 1980 I became interested in Packet Radio and computers in the HAM shack. Within 5 years, myself and another ham built and installed a Back-Boned Packet Node (NEDA), complete with BBS and DOS-GATE System, the call to connect was SCARA. In 1992 I achieved the Extra Class License. In the same year a fellow ham and I decided to build a 2 meter repeater system. After much heart ache and work, the repeater was up and working on 146.745/146.145 using the call AA2KH. I am also an accredited volunteer examiner for ARRL and W5YI. My son James AA2OC is currently serving in the US Army, he achieved the extra class license at 16 years of age. At the present time I am the WebMaster for ECARS on 7.255 mhz.
The most ignored item in amateur radio today is the antenna system. I give many signal reports everyday, the majority of these are to operators with multi-band antennas. It seems that todays HAM is looking for a Miracle Antenna, one that covers all bands with no tuning. Your not going to find it here, what you might find is first hand information on many different types of antenna systems. I have been experimenting with antennas VHF and HF for about 20 years. At this site you will find software, articles and information pertaining to antennas.
